PRAVENAC help: clear skin® FAQ:

What is PRAVENAC™?

PRAVENAC™ is our unique formulation containing a natural milk protein, rich in bioactive lactoferrin. Lactoferrin has been clinically proven to help reduce acne blemishes and help you maintain a healthy, clearer complexion.

How many sachets do I need to take each day to see a difference?

In clinical trials, participants took 100mg and 200mg of lactoferrin each day. PRAVENAC™ help: clear skin contains 200mg of lactoferrin in each sachet so you need to consume one sachet each day to see the same effects.

How soon should I see an improvement in my skin?

Provided you follow our recommendation of taking one sachet of PRAVENAC™ each day, you should begin to see a significant improvement within 4-6 weeks. This can feel like a long while, but it is important to allow time for the active ingredients in PRAVENAC™ to take effect.

Can PRAVENAC™ cure acne?

Using PRAVENAC help: clear skin™ every day as part of your skincare regime will help reduce the bacteria associated with skin blemishes through its antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Positive results are usually seen in as little as 4-6 weeks but you will have to keep taking PRAVENAC help: clear skin to continue to maintain a healthy, spot-free complexion.

Can PRAVENAC™ help with acne scarring?
Yes – the lactoferrin in our formulation helps repair damaged cells caused by acne and spots, although it must be taken daily for a period of several weeks before you will see the longer term benefit.
How does lactoferrin work?

Lactoferrin works in two ways. Firstly, it inhibits the growth of the propionibacterium, a type of bacteria that is present on most people’s skin and one of the causes of acne. By stopping the growth of this bacteria, lactoferrin reduces the number of new skin blemishes forming. Secondly its anti-inflammatory properties mean that the size of spots is reduced and blemishes heal quicker resulting in a smoother complexion.

What scientific evidence exists to prove PRAVENAC™ is an effective spot treatment?

The effects of supplementing your diet with lactoferrin have been proven in several studies with teenagers, with an average decrease of complexion blemishes of 71% after one month and 95% after two months.

Is PRAVENAC™ still effective once in water, other beverages or soft foods?

PRAVENAC™ is a water soluble milk protein complex which means that it can be dissolved in water, beverages or soft foods whilst still being just as effective. This means you can pop help: clear skin in your favourite hot and cold drinks, juices, smoothies and even soups!

Lactoferrin is derived from milk, doesn't milk cause acne?

The link between milk and acne is in its early stages but it is thought that the natural hormones contained within milk can cause acne. Lactoferrin is a protein that has been derived from the milk, but it has been purified to such a degree in PRAVENAC™ that it no longer contains these hormones.

I have a milk allergy. Can I still take PRAVENAC™?

Most milk allergies are caused by milk proteins, essentially the milk whey and casein. Although lactoferrin is not exactly milk whey and casein, it is made up of its components which means, to be on the safe side, we say that PRAVENAC™ is not suitable for people with milk allergies.

However, lactose (milk sugar) intolerance is a much bigger issue and many people confuse lactose intolerance with milk allergies. PRAVENAC™ does not contain any lactose, so PRAVENAC™ is suitable for anyone lactose intolerant.

What other ingredients are in PRAVENAC™?

High Extract Aloe Vera which has a smoothing and nourishing effect on the skin.

Zinc Gluconate which is important for protein synthesis and to support immune function.

Oligofructose which is a natural source of soluble fibre derived from the chicory root. Upping your fibre intake enables your body to get rid of toxins that negatively affect skin.

Does PRAVENAC™ contain preservatives?

No, PRAVENAC™ is completely preservative free.

How many calories are in each serving?

There are 5 calories per 3.5g sachet serving.

Can I take PRAVENAC™ if I am diabetic?

PRAVENAC™ contains no flavourings or sweeteners and is completely safe to consume if you are diabetic.

Can I take PRAVENAC™ if I am pregnant?

As with any dietary supplement product, it is important to consult a healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant or nursing.

Is PRAVENAC™ effective against hormonal acne?

PRAVENAC™ has no specific effect on hormone induced acne. It works in essentially three ways – put simply these are:

1. Limiting of the growth of the acne bacteria.
2. Reducing the blemishes associated with acne.
3. Helping repair damaged skin cells caused by blemishes.

Hormone associated acne is caused by hormonal imbalances due to high levels of androgens and testosterone – a condition that can only be treated medically.

However, one of the side effects of the hormonal imbalance is an increase in oily skin which unfortunately is a good breeding ground for bacteria which can amplify the underlying effects.

PRAVENAC™ will have an effect on helping reduce oiliness and will therefore still have a benefit… and can be of benefit in helping repair damaged skin cells caused by blemishes.

Will I be completely acne free eventually?

Although we cannot guarantee that you will be acne free, clinical trials on lactoferrin show that you are statistically likely to see a significant reduction in acne, blemishes and scarring.

Are there any side effects associated with PRAVENAC™?

There are no side effects associated with PRAVENAC™. However, if you generally consume a diet high in fibre, you may experience a slight bloating effect due to the fibre content. Remember, Oligofructose is a natural soluble fibre – so an added benefit if you struggle to maintain the recommended level of fibre in your daily diet.

Can PRAVENAC™ aid Psoriasis?

During the past 15 years there has been strong evidence due to some well conducted studies indicating that Aloe Vera is a natural cure for psoriasis.

Aloe Vera extract is a wonderful natural ingredient that has antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. The inner leaf gel of the Aloe Vera plant inhibits streptococcus bacteria (strep), meaning that when eaten it is particularly effective in supporting digestion and detoxification. Aloe Vera, with its abundance of helpful applications, helps reduce inflammation, addresses pathogens and restores balanced bowel function. Many believe Aloe Vera may play a crucial role in the prevention of illnesses that may usher in psoriasis outbreaks.

Is the Lacoferrin in PRAVENAC help: clear skin™ free from BSE/TSE?
The milk used in the production of the lactoferrin is sourced solely from Australian and New Zealand accredited herds which are fully free from BSE/TSE risks – this grade of lactoferrin is so pure that it is currently used in infant formula and therefore produced under the strictest standards in the global food industry.

PRAVIRAL immune support® has been formulated to ensure maximum bioavailability, aid and prime the body’s production of its immune arsenal, and regulate its response.

Is there anything else like PRAVIRAL immune support® available? What characterises those products?

There are many immune support supplements available on the market and each of the ingredients in the PRAVIRAL immune support® formulation can be purchased separately from other food supplement companies. However, PRAVIRAL immune support® is the only product on the market globally to combine this specific blend of seven superstar ingredients in a single, soluble supplement.

Why not just take individual vitamins?

A well-balanced diet is important for supporting the normal functioning of the immune system, and many nutrients influence the body’s ability to fight infection. However, there is no individual nutrient, food or supplement that will boost immunity so it’s important to combine key immune health ingredients and add these to your daily diet.

The immune system is a complex network of cells and chemical compounds that help defend the body against infections, and a number of different nutrients are involved in supporting our immune system to work normally.

Every micronutrient plays a different role in our immune system – so it’s important not to make a hero of just one.

In choosing to supplement with a blend of vitamins, supplements and nutrients, selecting the right ingredients, ingredient quality, ingredient density and most bioavailable forms can be challenging.

PRAVIRAL immune support® is formulated  to only contain the highest quality, highly bioavailable ingredients – all backed by significant scientific evidence to deliver their benefits in supporting our immune health.

Why can’t I just sit in the sunshine?

Sunshine plays a specific role in the synthesis of Vitamin D3 in the human body. Whilst increased exposure to sunlight will increase the amount of Vitamin D3 in your system, Vitamin D3 is only one of a multitude of nutrients critical to the effective functioning of your immune system. It’s worth noting that significantly increased exposure to sunshine also comes with an increase in the risk of contracting skin cancer.

Why are the seven ingredients in PRAVIRAL immune support® good at supporting my immune system?

PRAVIRAL immune support® differs greatly from other immune health products on the market. Its complex immune formulation delivers seven key immune health ingredients all at highly effective dosages.

PRAVIRAL immune support® has been formulated to ensure maximum bioavailability, aid and prime the body’s production of its immune arsenal, and regulate its response. The immune system is central to our health and well-being, as it affects every other part of the human body. The stronger your immune system, the better your body can cope with harmful pathogens.

The functions of our ingredients tick all the right ‘immune support’ boxes and break down as follows:

  1. Colostrum Bovine
Colostrum is breast fluid produced by all mammals before breast milk is released and is thought to be the first immunity conferred from mother to child. Colostrum contains a high level of micronutrients: antibodies, prebiotics, probiotics and growth factors as well as vitamins and minerals all in the most bioavailable form:
    • Lactoferrin – a protein involved in our body’s immune response to infections including those caused by bacteria and viruses
    • Antibodies – these proteins, also known as immunoglobulins, are used by your immune system to fight bacteria and viruses. Bovine colostrum is rich in antibodies IgA, IgG and IgM.
  2. 1-3 / 1-6 Yeast Beta Glucan
1-3 / 1-6 Yeast Beta-Glucan is shown to have an immune-modulating effect in the body by ‘priming’ our immune system against foreign challenges.

PRAVIRAL immune support® uses 1-3 / 1-6 Beta Glucan  extracted from Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. This type of beta glucan is an active ingredient also found in various mushrooms such as Shitake, Reishi, Chaga, Agricus and confers their immune properties.

  3. Oligofructose
Oligofructose is a soluble fibre derived from the Chicory root.  Oligofructose is a natural prebiotic fibre which is shown to help mineral absorption and benefit the health of the large intestine. A healthy digestive system is directly linked to positive immune health.

Nutritionally classed as fibre, Oligofructose can also be used to replace sugar in a food with the added health benefit of being safe for diabetics.

  4. Vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 is the biologically active form of the vitamin, found in our bodies and in animals.   When sunlight hits your skin, a reactive process converts cholesterol into Vitamin D3.

Vitamin D3 is known to enhance the function of your body’s immune cells including T-cells and macrophages; essential in the body’s fight against pathogens. It also plays an important  role in controlling the body’s immune response to inflammation.

Most Vitamin D3 is derived from sheep’s wool, however PRAVIRAL immune support® uses a vegan grade derived from microalgae.

It’s important to be aware that studies have shown that Vitamin D3, not D2, maintains levels of Vitamin D in our body even over the winter months.

  5. Zinc Bisglycinate
Zinc is a critical nutrient required for the development and function of immune cells in the body.

A deficiency of zinc can lead to a weakened immune system. Although there are many forms of Zinc not all are the same and bioavailability is key. Zinc Bisglycinate is one of the best forms of zinc available as it is bonded to a protein (in this case glycine) which allows it to be taken up by the body more effectively.

New research also suggests that zinc helps control infections by gently modulating the body’s immune response to avoid out of control inflammation.

  6. Vitamin A (Retinol)
Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin involved in the development of the immune system. It contributes to the formation of white blood cells and helps regulate your immune response.

Vitamin A is shown to play an important role in maintaining immune tolerance across the whole gut lining. An intolerant immune system can trigger a variety of issues in the body and the gut is where many people first start to experience the symptoms of immune intolerance.

  7. Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid)
Vitamin B9, commonly known as Folic Acid, is a water-soluble vitamin needed to create  white blood cells.

Vitamin B9 is also involved in governing immune responses and has shown potential to improve immune health in the elderly. A single sachet of PRAVIRAL immune support® contains your daily recommended dosage of Vitamin B9, more than you’ll find in one full cup of broccoli.

What is the difference between probiotic and prebiotic?

Probiotics are naturally occurring ‘friendly-bacteria’ that affect the gut microbiota when ingested.

Prebiotics are non-digestible carbohydrates that pass intact through the upper part of the gut and stimulate the growth and activity of our own friendly bacteria.

Are there any risks associated with taking PRAVIRAL immune support®?

Vitamin D3 supplements should be avoided if undergoing kidney dialysis treatment.

As it’s a dairy extract, Colostrum should be avoided by those with milk allergies. However, as Colostrum contains almost no lactose, those with a lactose intolerance are fine to consume the product.

As with all food supplements, you should always consult your medical professional before use.

What happens if I take more than the recommended daily amount?

PRAVIRAL immune support® has been formulated to deliver the recommended daily allowance of each ingredient as indicated by scientific studies and the levels are well within tolerable upper limits.  However, we recommend that as with all food supplements the dosage advice of a single 2g sachet per day is followed.

Is PRAVIRAL immune support® vegetarian - and / or vegan-friendly?

PRAVIRAL immune support® is all-natural and, in containing bovine colostrum, is vegetarian-friendly.

Can I take PRAVIRAL immune support® if I’m pregnant?

If you are pregnant or nursing you should consult your healthcare practitioner before consuming any dietary supplement.

Is PRAVIRAL immune support® formulation suitable for my whole family?

Our immune support formulation has been developed for adults.Whilst the ingredient levels are tolerable for children, we recommend it is only given to children over the age of 8 years and above and at half the adult dose. This equates to 1g and is half a sachet per day

What proof do you have that PRAVIRAL immune support® works?

The PRAVIRAL immune support® formulation is based upon significant scientific study and research into the selected ingredients, a list of the studies referenced during product development follows;
